Remove DataTool Alarm
If you have a Triumph Motorcycle and the Datatool evo, S3 or S4 alarm gives you headaches, there are two things to know:
- The alarm is virtually irrepairable because it is filled with silicone
- There is an easy trick to remove/disable it without permanent damage to the bike or the alarm.
The trick is to unplug the alarm, ask your Triumph dealer for the datatool override plug and plug that into the cable that comes out of the bike.
Here is the picture of the plug that is on the loom of the bike:
And this is the shorting plug, same orientation.
An even easier trick is to cut the plug off of the alarm (since it was not working anyway) and reusing that plug to short the terminals shown above.
After that you can safely ride the bike and install a different alarm or tracker in the space that used to hold the datatool alarm.
